I love Ponsonby! It’s one of those neighbourhoods which are hip, cosy, cool, a little stale, modern and fancy. And if you believe it’s easy to make your mind where to dine, forget it! Really, here you are spoilt for choice…more than 100 restaurants, coffees and bars are spread around Ponsonby. Choose between Indian, Thai, Korean, Malaysian, Japanese, Italian, Indonesian, Turkish, Mexican, Argentinian or Pacific.
I definitely am a big fan of El Sizzling Chorizo, basically a huge Argentinian grill, driven by a lovely Argentinian team. Unbelievable, how many kilos of meat they are selling a day, given the fact, they just opened a couple of weeks ago! Sitting at the bar, enjoying the grill, the ambient and the fun they actually have doing their work. Although they are working really really hard, there is a constant giggle and soulfulness around… I love it!
From an Argentinian Grill to an old laboratory? It almost seems like you are entering a laboratory when stopping for a coffee at Coffee Supreme in Douglas Street on Ponsonby. At least I felt like that.
The café and brew bar provides the public with a space showcasing the view we have on coffee and the ways we enjoy it. Espresso is made by way of a Slayer Espresso machine, which is at the forefront of espresso technology
