This time we only stayed for one night in Wellington before heading to the South Island. Yet it wasn’t really by our own choise, rather because we faced again a very busy place and time. Furthermore the weather forecast was definitely better for the South Island (Tasman Bay) than here in Wellington. But it’s only a pleasure deferred!
We stayed at the Ohtel Hotel in the Oriental Bay – and that’s practically obligatory! The Ohtel Hotel is Boutique Design Hotel with a truly unique design style with its ‘Mid-Century’ furnishings that adorn the whole interior. Indeed, for the moment a little “scary” especially if you grew up surrounded by these charming, individual items!
For dinner we went over to the Ortega Fish Shack Bar & Restaurant, a location focusing on fresh New Zealand seafood. It’s a cosy place and the food is really delicious and you’ll only long for more!
The very next day we spent in town, doing the needed shopping. Starving after all the “hard” work we entered Duke Carvell’s No 6, close to Cuba Street and ordered straight away their lunch offer (3 courses and a glas of wine, fix price) and didn’t get disappointed: reliable portions, good quality food, fun place!
